Week in Review: March 6-10

What a busy week! As you probably heard, I was unexpectedly out on Monday...my son had the flu. I got a great report from my substitute, so I appreciate everyone staying on task and behaving well.

In social studies this week, we focused on preparing for the Economics Fair by making advertisements and visiting first grade classes to tell them about the fair. The advertisements and speeches to first grade obviously worked well, as the third grade raised $2,783.35 total!

Science took a backseat to social studies this week, but we did enjoy a visit from KVUE meteorologist Jared Plushnick. He was impressed with their knowledge of the water cycle and weather tools, and taught them about being prepared for severe weather. The kids also enjoyed a science assembly on Friday morning!

In math, we wrapped up elapsed time, and moved onto weight and volume / capacity. We will continue this unit after spring break.

In language arts, we worked on basic dictionary skills and took a district writing assessment, where the students had to write an expository composition about something they have learned outside of school.

Have a wonderful spring break, and I look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday March 20.
