Final Week in Review: June 1-5

I hope all of my students would agree with me when I say what a great final week of third grade we have had! We finished learning the cursive alphabet and wrapped up our book clubs. We had a blast at field day. We met with our kindergarten buddies one last time, sharing a recipe of friendship snack mix and talking about how exciting it is for them to be going on to first grade. We finished up our memory books and wrote reflections about how the year has been. And of course, we can't forget the party on Thursday (thanks to all the parent volunteers who made that happen!) and the fabulous performances we got to see on Friday.

This last post of the year is always bittersweet for me and I write it with a lump in my throat. When I look back to the beginning of the year, and then glance at these kids now, I see so much growth. Of course they have grown taller and their hair is longer, but there is so much more than that. Some of them have read more chapter books than they ever dreamed possible. Some of them have written stories and poems that made me laugh, or made me cry. Some of them have unlocked the mysteries of math and numbers make sense to them now. Some of them have learned that they are smart and capable and I see a new confidence in their eyes and smile, and hear it in their voice. And all of them have a special place in my heart! From the bottom of my  heart, thank you for sharing your precious children with me this year. I turn them back to you now, ready for summer, and then the challenges and excitement of fourth grade! I hope they will come back to visit me as big 4th graders, and I wish you all a summer filled with sun and laughter, and good books too!

Love always,
Mrs. Lipe
