Week in Review: May 8-12

Whew, I am glad this week is behind us! STAAR testing consumed our Monday and Tuesday, as you know. On Wednesday, 5th graders were still testing, so our schedule was a bit different and we did some fun end of year reflections and worked on a Mother's Day surprise. We also began working on a huge timeline project for social studies.

On Thursday, we continued research for our SS timeline and worked on a special slide show we will have ready for Spotlight Night. The kids are doing a great job of capturing all of our fun and learning from their third grade year in this slide show! We began a unit on persuasive texts in language arts and will soon try our hands at writing persuasive pieces for our final writing assignment of the year. In math, we are wrapping up the year by learning the standard algorithms for addition and subtraction.

We wrapped up the week with our science unit assessment over life cycles, and will move on to the solar system in science next week. Friday was a fun day with t-shirt tie-dying and a robotics demonstration. It was a great end to a busy week. Have a wonderful weekend, and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!! I hope you get spoiled this weekend!
