Week in Review: November 30 - December 4

This week in language arts, we have been studying various expository text structures. We are also researching for our PBL project. We are doing research online and through reading books, so this is excellent practice for determining importance and taking notes.

In math, we reviewed and had a test over multiplication and division (though we will come back to these skills later in the year), and began our unit on fractions. I love teaching fractions as there are so many hands on activities to really help them grasp the concepts.

This was our first day of exploring fractions with pattern blocks.

In science, we reviewed and had a test over natural resources, and they all did really well. We will be studying soil until winter break. Thanks to everyone who sent in soil samples for this unit!

In social studies, we ended our unit on government and will be moving into geography and understanding maps. These skills will be integrated within our PBL research.

Only 9 days until winter break, I can hardly believe how quickly this week went by, and know that the next two will as well. Have a great weekend!
