First of all this week, I want to congratulate Mahek and Dheeshith for advancing to the Regional Science Fair. Great job on your projects, and good luck at the next level!
Secondly, I want to congratulate the 16 students from my class who read at least 5 Bluebonnet books and successfully passed the quizzes over them. We had a great time at the Bluebonnet Voting Party on Friday morning!
This week in science, we wrapped up our unit on soil with a rock banging experiment on Monday to learn about weathering. Then on Tuesday, we ate Nerds candy in the name of science of course! Ask your child about how eating nerds can represent weathering, erosion, and deposition. On Friday, we began delving into our next unit on the water cycle with some online interactive activities.
In math, we are nearing the end of fractions, and will have a unit assessment on Tuesday. We practiced using several manipulatives this week to represent equivalent fractions, including fraction bricks, fraction circles, and pattern blocks.
In language arts, we are still reading lots of traditional literature, as well as writing our own fiction stories. I hope to have those published by the end of next week.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
