In language arts, we are beginning to read traditional literature, such as folktales, myths, legends, and fables. We are learning about themes and morals, and how literature was passed down through generations. Students are beginning their own fiction writing pieces, and many of them are choosing to write a fairy tale or legend. I can't wait to see what they come up with when they are free to use their imagination!

In math, we are still working on fractions, particularly on equivalent fractions. At the training I went to on Wednesday, I learned about two new tools that we were able to use in class this week. Ask your child about watching a video with interactive questions embedded in it. Or ask him/her how they liked playing a fraction review game on Quizalize. I look forward to using both of these much more in the months to come.
In science, we have continued our study of soil, learning how it is formed, and what different types there are. In other science related news, eight of my students participated in the science fair. I am so proud of each of them!
In social studies, we spent more time learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. at the beginning of the week, and then moved onto economics, learning about goods and services, and producers and consumers.
