This week in science, we have been discussing natural resources, both renewable and non-renewable. Students sorted various household items based on the resource they were made from, and we discussed what characteristics they had that make them useful to people.
We wrapped up our biography unit in language arts and are starting to read various types of traditional literature, such as fables, folktales, legends, and fairy tales. We will soon be writing our own fairy tales!
In math, we are nearing the end of our unit on area and geometry. We should test over that on Tuesday, and then our next unit will be focusing on multiplication again.
We had a fun Friday with Science Day! Students enjoyed coding on the iPads, learning about potential and kinetic energy with the Hot Wheels tracks and cars, and reading about science topics of their choice through MackinVIA, an online library resource.
Next week, students will take a practice STAAR test. They will do the math test on Wednesday and reading on Thursday. Please make sure your child get's a good night of sleep and has a healthy breakfast so they can do their best work!
